A Pennsylvania couple pulled off the seemingly impossible after their respective grandmother's served as flower girls at their wedding which held on June 11th.
The couple - Josh and Maggie Wakefield both have very special relationships with their grandmothers, and decided to honour them by having them as part of the bridal train.
Speaking to Huffington Post, the bride said:
“She is like a second mother to me. I have so many fond memories of my sister and I sleeping over at my grandmother’s house as children making homemade sugar cookies. My grandparents have been a huge support in my life and I learned to really value their opinions and stories.”
Also given that she lost her father to colon cancer in 2013, Maggie found all the more reason to heavily involve her grandparents in the wedding, as her grandfather walked her down the aisle.
The groom and his grandmother also share a close relationship as affirmed by the bride:
"She is one of the most caring, gentle and thoughtful women that I know. Having our grandmothers as the flower girls meant the world to us!”
Although grandpa Ronald had hinted that he and wife, grandma Joyce may not be able to stay till the end of the wedding reception, they stayed till the end pulling their granddaughter aside while the second to the last song played to tell her how much fun they had.
