Beenie Man: Dancehall singer contacts Zika virus


The Jamaican reggae singer was prevented from entering Canada due to concerns that he might spread the virus.


Jamaican dancehall singer, Beenie Man, has reportedly contacted the Zika virus. As a result, he could not perform at the OVO Fest concert happening in Toronto, Canada.

According to an Instagram post published on Saturday, July 30, 2016, the singer was denied access into the country due to the virus.

It was also disclosed that he has dengue fever.
Beenie Man wrote, "Jah know...dah week ya deal wid me a way!! No visa fi mi Canada show (I apologize again to my fans in case you haven't seen the press release)  Zika Virus hol' mi".
"The same Zika mosquito gi mi dengue. Blood test, injections, pills. Wi a hol firm still. Selassie a guide I n I right through so once mi have life me a give thanks.#Unstoppable".

The OVO Fest concert is an annual concert organised by Canadian born singer and rapper, Drake.
Its previous edition has featured performances from top entertainers such as Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill and Kevin Hart.
