Demba Ba starts rehab work in bid to save career following horrific leg break

The former Chelsea and Newcastle striker suffered the horrendous injury in a challenge with Shanghai SIPG's Sun Xiang but has begun his rehabilitation

Demba Ba is on the road to recovery and has begun his rehabilitation after successfully undergoing surgery for his broken leg.

The Senegal international suffered the horrific injury starring for Shanghai Shenhua against Shanghai SIPG.
China international Sun Xiang knocked Ba over before the centre-forward's leg twisted underneath him.

Shenhua went on to win the game 2-1 with a last-minute winner from Fredy Guarin.

Ba has been a big hit since arriving in China from Turkish side Besiktas

Ba quickly went under the knife with renowned surgeon Oliver Bringer making the trip from France to China as the former Chelsea hit man fights to save his career.
There has been an overwhelming amount of support for the 31-year-old from the football world since the news broke of his misfortune.

Manchester United 's Luke Shaw, who suffered a similar injury last season, has reached out to Ba, who will now be sidelined for a year.
Ba has enjoyed an excellent start to his Shenhua career with 29 goals in 37 games.

His 14 goals this season makes him the current top scorer in the Chinese Super League with Shenhua lying fifth, two points behind third in the hunt for a place in the AFC Champions League.
