Lukaku still eyeing Chelsea return

Romelu Lukaku is still eyeing a return to former club Chelsea this summer, according to reports.
The 23-year-old reportedly believes he has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge and believes a deal is possible.
The arrival of a wealthy investor at the club as well as new manager Ronald Koeman hasn’t quelled Lukaku’s desire to leave.
The Sun say Koeman is already searching for a replacement for the 23-year-old Belgian.

Palace remain front-runners in Benteke chase

Crystal Palace are still the front runners in the race to land Liverpool striker Christian Benteke, according to reports.
The Croydon Advertiser say the Eagles remain in pole position to sign Benteke, but are reluctant to pay Liverpool’s asking price.
The Reds want £33million for their Belgian striker, despite paying less than that to sign him last year and his stock falling dramatically over the last 12 months.
Benteke is well down the striking pecking order at Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp favouring Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings ahead of him.

PSG keen to keep Matuidi

Paris Saint-Germain’s new manager Unai Emery wants to keep Blaise Matuidi, who has been linked with a transfer to Manchester United.
Matuidi, 29, is said to be United’s Plan B if their world-record deal to sign Paul Pogba falls through.
However, Emery has no intention of letting Matuidi go and is looking forward to working with the Frenchman when he links back up with the PSG squad after his post-Euro 2016 break.
“Matuidi is a fantastic footballer and he belongs to PSG,” Emery said. “He joins up later because he played the last game, the final of Euro 2016, with the French national team. We’re waiting for him. I’m waiting for him to come back.
“He is a great footballer and logically I don’t want to dispense with great footballers.”

Aguero to sign bumper new contract

Sergio Aguero will take his weekly wages to more than £200,000 by signing a new deal at Manchester City.
That’s according to the Sun, who say Aguero, 28, will commit his future to City until 2020 by penning a fresh four-year contract.
It is claimed new City boss Pep Guardiola is ready to put his faith in Aguero as his main striker next season, despite the Argentine’s questionable injury record.
Aguero has previously hinted he wants to finish his playing career in Argentina, but he clearly isn’t thinking about retirement just yet.

City eye double deal

Manchester City are still keen to sign John Stones from Everton and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, it has been reported this morning.
City have been linked with both players throughout the summer, but the two-time Premier League champions are yet to lodge an official bid for either man.
However, the Daily Express say Stones and Aubameyang remain very much on Pep Guardiola’s radar, and both players will cost more than £50million.
Everton have reportedly made it clear they won’t entertain any offers under the £50million mark for their 22-year-old defender, while Dortmund can command a hefty fee for Aubameyang, who was one of the hottest strikers in Europe last season.
City, however, face competition for Aubameyang’s services from Atletico Madrid, who have already had a bid for the Gabon international rejected.

Bye, bye, Bastian?

Sticking with United, Pogba’s arrival could mean the end of the road for several high-profile first team stars at Old Trafford.
Germany international Bastian Schweinsteiger heads the list of potential casualties.
Ashley Young, Adnan Januzaj and Juan Mata all face uncertain futures under boss Jose Mourinho too.

Pogba to United... today?

Could today be the day Manchester United sign Paul Pogba?
A world record £100m move is close to completion.
But Old Trafford legend Paul Scholes does not think the France midfielder is worth anything near that fee.
“I just don’t think he is worth £86million,” Scholes told SportWitness.
“For that sort of money, you want someone who is going to score 50 goals a season like Ronaldo or Messi.
“Pogba is nowhere worth that kind of money yet.”
Jose Mourinho speaks to the media at 11.30am today - maybe he’ll be able to shed more light on how the deal is progressing.

Stoke and Swans in Chadli battle

STOKE boss Mark Hughes is rivalling Swansea counterpart Francesco Guidolin for Nacer Chadli.
Swansea have made no secret of the fact they want Chadli but now Stoke are ready to enter the running for the £15m-rated Tottenham midfielder as well.
Chadli flew to Australia with the rest of the Spurs squad on Friday but is expected to leave White Hart Lane when the club returns from its pre-season tour Down Under.

Everton agree £25million Witsel fee

Everton have agreed a £25million fee with Zenit for Axel Witsel, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claim Ronald Koeman’s Toffees are set to oust Chelsea and European giants Inter Milan in the battle to sign the Belgian.
Everton’s offer is the only one which has been accepted so far and they are now in pole position to sign the midfielder.
